There's a McDonald's Restaraunt in Bowser's Old Castle.. mostly because Orinda Tarsa wanted it. It has a ball pit, billions of tables and no real care for what shape it is left in by the guests who visit. Events persue:

Boredom was setting in, as Orinda Tarsa sat at an empty table in an equally deserted McDonald's (the dragon actually farted out a huge fireball and cleared the staff to a burnt bacony crisp). He looked at the ball pit and thought to himself quietly. "What could a naked dragon possibly get into with a ballpit?", he thought aloud.

Xiuhcoatl casually walked into the eating facility, taking note of its emptiness and the faint smell of burnt meat products. Looking around the building, he spotted a dragon sitting at a table. "I bet he has something to do with the smell", he muttered to himself.

Hearing footsteps echo through the empty restaurant, Orinda turned his eyes towards the source of the sound to find some crocodile/koopa thing standing in the entrance way. Getting up from his table (which was a booth against the wall), he revealed a toofy grin and bowed slightly in greeting. "Welcome to the former Koopa Mansion", he stated in a deep, booming voice. "I'm your host Star Jones and I have a really high metabolism!".

Clive Koopa who had been given a day off by Bowser walked into the restaurant and immediately sensed a strong smell and covered his nose.

"What on earth is that horrible smell?" Clive said loudly not noticing the dragon on the other side of the restaurant. He took a seat near to where he walked in and coughed a little and struggled to hide his disgust at the smell.

"I showered only 400 years ago, good SIR!", Orinda shouted in a sarcastic voice. Then turning his eyes to the koopa troopa sitting at a table, he smiled an evil, yet sweet smile. "The smell is from the kitchen, something disagreed with me and let's say the little goombas working back there couldn't stand the heat!", he said, with a giggle.

Making his way towards the service counter, his big scaly tail lightly scratching across the tile floors, he peeked behind the counter. Covering his nose from the strong smell, he looked at the dragon and stated boldly, "Think it's more than bad hamburger, holy crap man put on some pants."

Orinda cleared his throat and crossed his arms across his chest. "If that's the case," he said in a smug voice, "then why are you only wearing a hat?" Pointing a claw at the koopa troopa, he continued to rant. "Why is that troopa over there unclothed?".

The door beeped, as many shop doors do besides ring a bell, as another figure entered. He was a rather small figure, which would explain why almost the entirety of him, minus the top of the large pot he was carrying on his back, was hidden behind the open scroll he was holding.

"OK, I am fairly sure at this point that I am not on the interstate," he said to himself before looking up, revealing himself to be an orange-red Squeek.

"Does anyone know where the I-66 is?" he asked to the whole room. "Because according to this map, I'm standing on it right now and I'm starting to think this thing's out of date."

"For your information, all the koopa troopas where I come from go unclothed, we have no need for clothes," Clive replied to Orinda walking over to him. He turned around to the other figure walking and in and said, "I have no idea what you are talking about, what on earth is an I-66?""

Bothered by the annoying stranger, Xiuhcoatl pulled out the magic wand from inside his shell and pointed it accusingly at the green dragon. "Got a problem with it bud?", he said with a snarl. "Who in the heck are you and why are you in Koopa Castle?"

Holding both of his hands out towards the Koopa/Crocodile beast, he walked backwards towards the booth table slowly. "Now, now there big guy", he said with a big toothy smile, "there's just one thing I need to show you!"

Standing against the booth, he lowered down underneath the table and picked up a woven brown sack off the floor. Standing up straight, he walked back up to the beast and grinned and pulled out King Koopa's crown from inside of the brown sack.

Growling with anger, he placed both hands around the handle of the magic wand, pointing it at the head of the dragon. "How did you get the king's crown?", he bellowed. "I demand an answer from you right now, scaly fiend or I'll turn you into a green puddle of slime right here!!"

"...I can see now isn't a good time," the Squeek said, backing up toward the door. "I'll just... come back later then." He moved to leave.

"Your Koopa King is unharmed," Orinda said in a calm voice, as he put the crown back into the brown sack. "Please, put your wand away.. tell me your name.. and I'll walk you through the castle hallways and explain it."

Then turning his head to the creature moving towards the door, he smiled. "Then, I can help you find this I-66.. wherever that may be."

Upon hearing the dragon's offer, the Squeek stopped its exit and looked back. He furled up the scroll and tucked it under his arm.

His nose subconsciously twitched. There was a story in the air...

"Of course Bowser is okay," Clive replied. "I've not long spoken to him but I also want to know what you are doing with that crown. I have a good mind to report you to Bowser right now and lock you in a dungeon so you better start talking, mister."

Xiuhcoatl closed his eyes for a moment and let out a sigh. He was sure this dragon would be leading him nowhere but as long as the king's crown was in the dragon's possession, there was really no other choice for him. Hesitently putting his magic wand back into his shell, he looked the dragon in the eyes for a long second, holding back his anger. "I'm Xiuhcoatl Koopa, resident of Soda Lake", he said quietly. "I don't know about the rest of the crowd here, but I am giving you a chance to explain how you came up with the crown and the whereabouts of King Bowser."

He extended a hand to the green dragon in a form of promise to his own word.

The dragon nodded in response to Xiuhcoatl's words. Extending a clawed hand and shaking the koopa's hand in agreement, he smiled softly and glanced towards the other two visitors. "I apologize if I seemed harsh to you two folks and Xiuhcoatl... my name is Orinda Tarsa.", he said. Motioning towards the doorway to exit the restaurant with his right arm, he smiled once more. "Let's travel down the hallway and into the king's throne room. I'll explain what's going on and allow myself to know you all better."

Clive followed right behind Orinda and gave him a stark warning.

"This had better be good. Bowser would be furious if he found out you took his crown and I could be fired or even worse if he found out I was with you," Clive said. "So you had better have a valid reason for this or I'll be telling Bowser and have you locked up."

Despite Orinda's partial address of him, the Squeek found himself preferring to keep in the background, so to speak. He quickly started taking mental notes, absorbing all the information flowing around for later. He tried to avoid getting too giddy; almost never had he before stumbled upon a story in the making, but he didn't want to risk losing track of a possible necessary detail. Oddly, when Clive spoke just now, he thought he caught a whiff of cruel irony... What could that be about...?

Orinda walked out the door and into the hallway, looking at a torch hanging just above his head on the wall directly across from the doorway and then glancing at Clive and Xiuhcoatl Koopa. "Pitch black in the hall, check this out!", he said with a toofy grin. "You might also want to stand back, too."

Stepping back from the wall and stopping just in front of the doorway, he put a claw under his nose and sneezed hard, sending a giant fireball out of his nose. The fireball blasted the wall above the torch, causing the top of the torch to flame. Smiling big, he walked up to the torch and detached it from the wall. Looking back at Clive and Xiuhcoatl, he said with a grin, "In the shadow of night, I am the light.. shall we move on, folks?"

"Show off.", he muttered, shaking his head. Turning to Clive, he nodded and whispered, "If you don't wind up strangling this crazy dragon, I will." He didn't want to listen to the dragon but he promised his word as the dragon had promised his. Taking a step cautiously out into the hallway, with his tail dragging lightly across the stone floor, he moved into the light of the lit torch's fiery glow.
